I'm not sure the picture does it justice but lets just say that it was pretty darn awful. The grey made the room feel really dark and closed. The trim (which I like to call "baby poop brown") majorly clashed with the grey and the lovely fake foliage and two-toned curtains left behind by the previous tenants certainly didn't help things. For awhile this room was simply storage and the door stayed closed all the time because it was depressing to look at. Then finally, the weekend after we found out that we were having a boy my mother-in-law helped me paint.
We went with a bright pastel green and a dark brown for the trim. I was a little nervous about how bright the color turned out but Andrew really likes it and I was promised that with some neutral furniture and decor on the walls it would be toned down. (And don't worry, I only helped paint a little bit and we had 2 fans going plus doors and windows open. I also had a mask to wear and got kicked out if the fumes built up even a little bit)
Then again, the room sat empty for awhile while I tried to decided on furniture. It was no easy task, just ask Andrew. I bought a crib at one point only to get it home and out of the box and decide it was really a cherry wood finish and not an espresso finish like I wanted. This resulted in about an hour of tears and a trek back to the store to return it and wait while the correct crib was shipped to the store. But finally the room actually started to take shape, thanks in huge part to my Montana baby shower
This is the first picture of the room after we started buying things and right after my baby shower
Soon a rocking chair and end table and lamp will go in the corner where the car seat is. We just haven't found the perfect chair yet!
Well thats as far as we've gotten. We're headed to the city this coming weekend to get a dresser and a rocking chair. We've also slowly been collecting decor for the walls and are just looking for a couple more pieces before we put it all together. It's definitely close, I just can't wait for the whole room to be done!
